US, west responsible for ‘recent migrant crises’

TEHRAN, Sep. 21 (MNA) – Head of the Judiciary has said the US and west are the major players responsible for the recent surge of refugees and migrants to Europe.

Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani who was addressing a meeting of Judiciary high-ranking officials on Monday, said that the crisis of Syrian and North African refugees and migrants was rooted in measures taken by Europeans and the US, which “now affects themselves.”

“The crisis is the product of supporting terrorism by the west, and now they are stuck in a desperate situation by influx of thousands of migrants and refugees from lands where the US and west fostered terrorists; while, the Islamic Republic of Iran had been hosting thousands of Afghan and Iraqi refugees since long,” Ayatollah Amoli Larijani told the meeting.

“We hope that the US and Europe move toward concrete solutions to the crisis and abandon debate over how many refugees and migrants should be accepted by western European countries,” he added.

The head of the Judiciary however provided a ready answer to the crisis: “West should abandon terrorists to their own means; west and the US should stop arming and supporting extremist terrorist groups along with letting nations of the region decide on their own future,” he demanded.

Ayatollah Amoli Larijani touched upon yet another issue of the recent onslaught by the Israelis on Al-Aqsa mosque, which is a holy shrine for Muslims; “recent Zionist measures to desecrate the mosque and the policy of silence by Muslim countries which was against the common sense of unity in the face of a common enemy, Zionist regime, were hapless; instead these Arab states support and arm ISIL and other extremist beasts in line with their overzealous attempts to wreak havoc on the region, leaving Israel open-handed in its measures in the first qiblah of Muslims, which is a ringing of the bell for all Islamic world,” he deplored.

“A way to meet the threats of the Zionist regime is the way chosen by the Islamic Republic of Iran: Efforts to uproot the malign cancer from the region; if Muslims act merely as onlookers, the regime would inevitably find other ways to violate the sacrosanct places of the Muslims,” Amoli Larijani asserted.

Still addressing another issue, Ayatollah Amoli Larijani pointed to the Sacred Defense Week (held September 22-29, marking the beginning of Iran-Iraq war in 1980); “we glorify the memory of those who had been martyred in eight years of war; their grand epic brought the country with development and honor beyond the scope of the imagination,” he lavished praise on the armed forces.
